PHYSICAL EDUCATION 7-12

Grade 7

The student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate fundamental motor skills in individual and sport activities.
  2. Demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior.
  3. Interpret and apply rules for sports and activities.
  4. Display appropriate sportsmanship attitudes.
  5. Demonstrate respect, safe use, and care of equipment and facilities.
  6. Bring required materials to class.
  7. Maintain and participate at an appropriate level of fitness.
  8. Demonstrate fundamental rhythmic skills in activities.
  9. Earn the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

Grade 8

The student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate fundamental motor skills in individual and sports activities.
  2. Demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior.
  3. Interpret and apply rules for sports and activities.
  4. Display appropriate sportsmanship attitudes.
  5. Demonstrate respect, safe use and care of equipment and facilities.
  6. Bring required materials to class.
  7. Maintain and participate at an appropriate level of fitness.
  8. Demonstrate fundamental rhythmic skills in activities.
  9. Earn the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

High School

The student will be able to:
  1. Participate and maintain an appropriate level of personal fitness.
  2. Exhibit the ability to synthesize and perform creative rhythmic movement patterns.
  3. Develop healthy, lifelong wellness pursuits.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to use previously learned skills into sports strategies.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic rules and strategies through written evaluations.
  6. Participate cooperatively and ethically in physical activities.
  7. Demonstrate safe and appropriate use and care of equipment and facilities.
  8. Demonstrate responsibilities (bring required materials to class).
  9. Earn the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

Elective Physical Education: Advanced P.E.

The student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate safe and appropriate use and care of equipment.
  2. Define and maintain appropriate level of personal fitness.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic physiology principles of exercise and nutrition.
  4. Develop a personal fitness program.
  5. Assess personal fitness status related to cardiovascular, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Elective Physical Education: Body Maintenance

The student will be able to:
  1. Understand the components of fitness and the guidelines for exercise to develop an individual fitness program.
  2. Demonstrate various methods of improving cardiovascular fitness.
  3. Understand the guidelines for exercise and the principles of training.
  4. Determine how nutritional intake and eating patterns affect social, mental, and physical outlook on life.
  5. Demonstrate safe and appropriate use of equipment.
