DRIVERS EDUCATION

The student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate basic vehicle control (starting, stopping, turning, accelerating, and decelerating).
  2. Identify traffic signs, signals, and roadway markings.
  3. Know how to react in emergency driving situations.
  4. Demonstrate advanced vehicle control (two and three point turns, parallel parking, backing, backing while turning, and changing lanes).
  5. Maneuver the vehicle safely and confidently in rural, urban, and interstate traffic.
  6. Understand traffic laws.
  7. Understand the dangerous nature of motor vehicles.
  8. Demonstrate a good driving attitude.
  9. Understand what it means to be a defensive driver.
  10. Make safe driving decisions using the IPDE process (identify, predict, decide, and execute).
  11. Understand the economics of purchasing, owning, and maintaining a vehicle.
