Media Center K-6

Primary (K-3)

The student will be able to:
  1. Respond to literature in a variety of ways (drama, art, and puppetry).
  2. Comprehend oral directions.
  3. Identify area of the media center containing age-appropriate books.
  4. Learn to properly care for all types of media.
  5. Utilize basic computerized online catalogue skills (grades 2, 3).
  6. Identify various types of media (magazines, books, newspapers and CD-ROM's).
  7. Understand the importance of reading.

Intermediate (4-6)

The student will be able to:
  1. Understand the importance of reading as a life-long learner.
  2. Understand and identify types of literature and popular authors.
  3. Respond critically and actively to literature by making predictions, comparing, discussing, and using drama.
  4. Learn basic media center skills (reference, Dewey decimal, and locating print materials).
  5. Utilize computerized online card catalogue.
  6. Gather information from various media to enhance classroom assignments.
  7. Utilize the Internet responsibly.
