Reading and Language Arts
The student will be able to:
- Develop skills in auditory and visual discrimination.
- Develop an appreciation and love of literature.
- Draw, dictate and write regularly in journals and class projects.

Math
The student will be able to:
- Communicate an understanding of mathematics by using objects, numbers, and shapes.
- Develop reasoning skills by using sets of objects, numbers, and shapes to identify, duplicate, and create patterns.
- Recognize and develop mathematical connections in children's literature.
- Introduce the concepts of addition and subtraction.
- Count, compare, classify, estimate, and write the numeral for the number of items in a set with ten elements or less.
- Construct and interpret real graphs.
- Count, describe, classify, compare, and draw basic geometric objects (square, circle, rectangle, and triangle).
Science
The student will be able to:
- Classify, identify, and describe using the five senses.
- Use simple instruments to compare size, weight, temperature, direction and/or location.
- Identify, describe, and predict changes in the environment.
- Observe and participate in simple experiments.
- Construct and interpret graphs.
Social Studies
The student will be able to:
- State their name, phone number and address.
- Explain how basic needs of food, shelter and clothing are met.
- Understand the roll of community helpers.
- Practice citizenship skills and responsibilities (classroom rules).
- Observe and discuss diversity.
Health
The student will be able to:
- Identify themselves as unique individuals.
- Demonstrate daily health habits that promote growth (hygiene, nutrition, and exercise).
- Identify and name major external body parts.
- Identify and describe substances that are helpful or harmful to our bodies.
- Identify safety risks in the home and school and participate in safety drills.
Computers
The student will be able to:
- Recognize basic computer terms (monitor, keyboard and mouse).
- Manipulate mouse by using right/left hand.
- Utilize mouse to point and click on software programs.
- Recognize CD-ROM and be able to open it.
- Properly hold disk and insert into computer.
